Pakistani national cricket captains

Pakistani national cricket captains

This is a list of all men, youths and women who have captained a Pakistani national cricket team at official international level. Pakistan became a full member of the Imperial Cricket Conference (now the International Cricket Council) on 28 July 1953.

The position of captain of the Pakistani cricket team has often been dogged by controversy, particularly in the 1980s and 1990s, with a seeming revolving door policy that has seen Wasim Akram take on the captaincy in many different stints. Also Salim Malik, a middle-order batsman captained the team, but was found guilty of match-fixing and banned for life. The position seems to have settled down now, with Shoaib Malik as the current captain.

The Pakistani team's greatest successes in One Day Internationals came in 1991/1992, when they won the Cricket World Cup under the captaincy of Imran Khan.
