Philip Vaughan

Philip Vaughan

Philip Vaughan was a Welsh inventor and ironmaster who patented the first design for a ball bearing in Carmarthen in 1794. [Carlisle, p. 512.] His design ran along a track in an axle assembly, known as a ball race, thus originating the modern ball bearing design. [Rowland, p. 160.]
