"The Ballade" is a Japanese-only collection that was released in 1991 and is comprised of 15 of the late 1970s/early 80's AOR rockers Journey's most popular love songs, including the #2 chart hit "Open Arms, the top 40 hits "Faithfully," "'ll Be Alright Without You," "Who's Crying Now," "Still They Ride," "Send Her My Love," "Lights," "Too Late," and more. The songs featured on this compilation are from the U.S. releases "Infinity", "Evolution", "Departure", "Escape", "Frontiers" and "Raised On Radio".

This compilation have been reissued throughout the years (as recently as 2006) and it has never been domestically. This Ballade series has been issued in Japan and on the series, artists and fellow labelmates Santana, REO Speedwagon, Babyface and Toto have had releases under this title. Of the artists mentioned, only REO Speedwagon and Babyface have had similar albums released in the United States; REO Speedwagon's called 'Ballads' and Babyface's called 'Love Songs.' The tracklist for both releases in the US is different from the ones released in Japan.
