Pacific American School

Pacific American School (PAS) (zh-t|t=亞太美國學校) is a private, for-profit, international school with an American curriculum based in Hsinchu, Taiwan ROC. The school was founded in 2007, from the management, faculty, staff and student body from Hsinchu American School. It offers an American Curriculum, with complete instruction in English for students grades K to 12. PAS is currently not an accredited school, but it is recognized by American Institute in Taiwan and the Taiwan Ministry of Education.

Admission requires a non-Taiwanese passport. English competency is tested for, but due to the school's young age, limited English students are currently allowed quite regularly. Current enrollment for the 2008-09 school year is 187 students.

Facilities offered by the school are limited since the building is part of another school, Kuang Fu High School. PAS has their own small playground equipment including a small climbing wall. The roof is also used as a multi-purpose surface for basketball, volleyball and tennis. A 200m outdoor track is also available.

Current administration going back to the 2005 school year with Hsinchu American School has had a difficult time retaining employees. 4 different principals have worked their way through the school, with most not finishing their contract due to upper management disputes. Additionally, there has been a high turnover of teachers, often times citing problems with working conditions and schedules.
