Since the September 21st, 2000 numbering plan change, phone numbers in Venezuela are composed of a 3-digit prefix and a 7-digit subscriber number. Prefixes specify either area codes or cell operators.

Calls between different area codes are prefixed with the trunk prefix 0.

Example:

5551212 (within Caracas) 0212 5551212 (within Venezuela, Caracas excluded) +58 212 5551212 (outside Venezuela)

The international call prefix is 00.
