Serbian Rock Gods

Serbian Rock Gods were a four-piece rock band from Belgrade, Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia). Their unique style of rock was once branded a "tour de force" by Eagles member Glenn Frey [citation needed] . Formed in 1989, the band separated in 1993.

The band is most widely-recognised for their debut album 'Rock Chronicles, Volume 1: The Puzzle Unravels...', which was released on EMI Serbia in 1991 and was critically lauded by fans and critics alike. The band went on to release another EP titled 'The Safe House EP', but a second full-length was never completed due to the sudden unexpected death of lead guitarist, Igor Pčinjski, who died in 1993.

Rock Chronicles, Volume 1: The Puzzle Unravels...

'Rock Chronicles, Volume 1: The Puzzle Unravels...' was Serbian Rock Gods first full-length released in 1991. Recorded in drummer Marko Branković's home studio, the band aimed to produce an album that would "push the boundaries of modern rock, yet still stay true to old formulas". Singer and chief songwriter Stefan Uroš is said to have penned the lyrics to the songs on bus journeys to working as a part-time security guard at a Belgrade postal office.

The Safe House E.P.

The Safe House E.P. was a five-track demo recorded in between rigorous touring schedules in 1992.

The Death of Igor Pčinjski

Serbian Rock Gods mutually agreed to disband following the death of lead guitarist, Igor Pčinjski, who died of blood poisoning sustained from cuts in his right leg from climbing a rusty gate. He was taken to hospital on April 16th 1993 and died one week later in his hospital bed, surrounded by band members and his wife, Trish. He died 23rd April 1993.

April 23rd is still remembered by Serbian rock music lovers, who gather outside his childhood home and lay single red roses at the front door.

Brief Reunion

The band reunited as a three piece for a one-off show at Buongiorno cafe in Belgrade in October 1996. Fans of Serbian Rock Gods were divided regarding the reunion, some feeling it was disrespectful to late guitarist, Pčinjski - where as others welcomed it with open arms, hopeful of a new album that would never arrive.
