The Rectory School is a boarding and day private school in Pomfret, Connecticut, USA founded in 1920 by the Rev. Frank H. Bigelow and his wife, Mabel on the grounds of Christ Church in Pomfret; it is currently located across the street from Christ Church. Both male and female students are enrolled in the day school, with primarily male boarding students. However, as of 2007, female students have begun boarding in a small percentage in order to compete with other private schools, with hopes to expand.

The Rectory School boasts a new auditorium with seating for over 200 and first-class music department. Jacqueline Cratin Smith is the Chair of the Performing Arts Department. In addition, the school includes a new cafeteria and arts center.

The Rectory School is accredited by the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and approved by the Connecticut State Board of Education. Memberships include the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) The Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS). Rectory is a member of New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC).

Rectory is located next to the Pomfret School.

Secondary Placement

Typically students attend prestigious boarding high schools after graduating. Common choices are Phillips Exeter, Pomfret School, Avon Old Farms, Salisbury School, Groton, Tabor Academy, St. Pauls, St. Marks, Deerfield Academy, and Milton Academy.

At the present, the school's headmaster is Mr. Tom Army. However, as of Spring 2007, Mr. Army is stepping down as headmaster, leaving his tenure of seventeen years. A search for a new headmaster is in progress.
