Denise L. Nappier is the current state treasurer of the U.S. state of Connecticut. A Democrat, she was first elected in 1998 and was re-elected in 2002, 2006, and 2010. She is the first African-American woman elected to statewide office in the history of Connecticut.

Education

Nappier was a fellow for United States Housing and Urban Development.[1]

Career

Prior to her election as state treasurer, Nappier served as treasurer of the City of Hartford for 10 years.[1] On December 16, 2006, Nappier gave the commencement address at Central Connecticut State University.

Nappier is a member of the boards of both the National Association of Corporate Directors and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems.[1] Also she serves a the treasurer for the National Association of State Treasurers.[1]
