Admir Smajić (born September 7, 1963 in Bijeljina, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian former football defender who played for SFR Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Football career

Admir Smajić began his career with Yugoslav First League club FK Partizan in 1979. Whilst at Partizan he represented Yugoslavia at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles where they reached the semi-finals before being eliminated by France. In 1988 he moved to Neuchâtel Xamax in the Swiss Nationalliga A where he played for five years before joining FC Basel in 1993. He then signed for BSC Young Boys in 1997 where he took up a player-manager role in 1998. He was sacked at the end of the season and he also retired from playing.
