Pili is a 1st Class municipality in the province of Camarines Sur, Philippines. It is the capital municipality of Camarines Sur. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 67,393 people in 12,389 household

=History=

The municipality of Pili has obviously gone through critical stages before it was decreed as the capital town of the province of Camarines Sur. It was recorded that the Spanish missionaries started promulgating Christianity as early as 1770.

It was believed that its development as a town started when the road from Pili leading to Lagonoy which was also the route to Legaspi and Naga was constructed. Furthermore, the Philippine National Railway's (PNR) establishment of its station in the municipality paved the way for Pili to become the center of commerce in the province, though next only to the city of Naga .

Aside from being the seat of provincial government of Camarines Sur where it allocates a 12 hectare site to the Provincial Capitol, distinguished institutions and regional offices are likewise built in this prospering town. The Domestic airport, Camarines Sur Agricultural College (CSSAC), Bikol Sugar Development Company, Freedom Stadium and soon to rise is the Sta. Rita Economic Zone are just some of the numerous important establishments found in this part of the province.

The Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Commission on Election (COMELEC), National Food Authority (NFA) also based their regional offices in this municipality.

Modern-day Pili boasts more of its numerous improvements in education, hospitals, banking, subdivisions, convenience stores and similar edifices. Urbanization in this area may be considered as the primary reason for its increase in population.
