Daniel Syrkin

Daniel (Danny) Syrkin (Hebrew: דניאל סירקין B. 4 March 1971, Moscow, Russia) is an Israeli cinema and TV director and screen-writer.

Syrkin moved to Jerusalem, Israel, in his childhood. He was first exposed to acting while attending the René Cassin French high school, where he participated in the Katron drama program. After graduating high school, in 1989, Syrkin was an IDF officer.

Syrkin graduated the Tel-Aviv University's School of Cinema. As a thesis project at the School of Cinema, he directed the short movie And Now Rachmaninov (עכשיו רחמימוב, Achshav Rachmaninov, 1998) that won a price in a film festival in Italy.

Syrkin has had a successful professional career in Israel, with many of his films winning prestigious international prizes and participating in major film festivals across the globe. His film Out of Sight (2006) won the Israeli Academy Award for Best Director.
