Hayley Palmer

Hayley Palmer (born 8 May, 1989) is a swimmer who represented New Zealand at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. She currently swims for North Shore Swimming Club in Auckland, New Zealand.

Born in New Zealand Palmer moved to Cheltenham, England at the age of three and began swimming there before returning to New Zealand in 2007. Her international debut for NZ was at the 9th FINA Short Course World Championships in Manchester in April 2008.

Her coach for the majority of her swimming career in England was Graham Brookhouse. During her early teenage years she was a member of the Gloucester City Swimming Club. At North Shore Swimming Club she is currently coached by Scott Talbot-Cameron.

Palmer was selected for the New Zealand Olympics squad as a part of the Women's 4x200m freestyle relay in March 2008. The relay team were disqualified in the heats of the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Palmer swam the third leg, and her teammate swimming the fourth and final leg of the race was deemed to be a flyer (which is to say, a swimmer who dives off the diving block before their teammate has finished their leg).
