Pine Island (Canberra)

Pine Island is an island on the Murrumbidgee River where the river flows through the Canberra suburb of Tuggeranong, Australia.

In 1820 Canberra was first settled by europeans. Charles Throsby explored around the Canberra area (then known as Canberry or Kamberry) looking for the Murrumbidgee River that was believed to run nearby. The area is a well known picnic and swimming area in summer.
