Toktaim Umetalieva

Toktaim Umetalieva (Russian: Токтаим Жумаковна Уметалиева; born April 4, 1962, Leninpol, Kyrgyz SSR, USSR) is a Kyrgyz activist. She is married and has four children.

She was the sole female candidate for the Kyrgyz presidential election, 2005. She also claimed to be the first female presidential candidate in all five former Soviet republics of Central Asia.

She is the current president of the Association of Kyrgyz Non-Governmental Organisations, a group that was set up in 2000 under the guidance of the administration of president Askar Akaev. Umetalieva has always been an active loyalist to Kyrgyzstan's former president Akaev who was toppled by the Tulip Revolution in March 2005 and his daughter Bermet Akaeva
