Vaughn Jefferis, (born
1 May ,1961 ) in Huntly, is aNew Zealand horseman who won a Bronze medal at theOlympic Games .Initially competing in
showjumping Jefferis switched toEventing in 1990 and had immediate success, being part of the Gold medal team at theWorld Equestrian Games inStockholm riding "Enterprise". Jefferis purchased "Bounce" in 1994 and rode the horse for the remainder of his international career. Thye won the world individual title in 1994 atThe Hague , a Bronze medal in the team event at the1996 Summer Olympics , the team Gold at the 1998 World Championships inRome . They're last event was at the2000 Summer Olympics inSydney but they did not complete the event.He lives in Matangi, across from his parents making use of their horse fasciulties. He is my uncle and i havn't seen him in 2 years. He was a natural rider at a young age taught by himself, his father and his uncle Jack. His father was watching him as he won gold at an event.He is apparently planning to be inthe 2012 Olympics, good luck! Love samantha, please come and see us Uncle Vaughn!!!!!
Biography
Unlike the majority of his team-mates, such as
Mark Todd ,Andrew Nicholson andBlyth Tait , who based themselves inEngland , Jefferis remained in New Zealand throughout his career. After retiring in 2000 he has concentrated on producing and training horses.In August 2008, Jefferis announced he was making a comeback to top-level eventing, and would aim for the 2012 London Olympics.
