Prince Otto Heinrich of Hanover (Full name: "Otto Heinrich Aripand George Johannes Ernst August Vinzenz Egmont Franz"), Prince of Great Britain and Ireland, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg; German: "Otto Heinrich Prinz von Hannover, Prinz von Großbritannien und Irland, Herzog zu Braunschweig-Lüneburg") (born on 13 February 1988 in Gmunden, Upper Austria, Austria) was the only child of music producer Prince Ludwig Rudolph of Hanover and his wife, former fashion model Countess Isabelle of Thurn and Valsassina-Como-Vercelli. The prince is a direct male-line descendant of George III of the United Kingdom and is a descendant of Victoria of the United Kingdom and Albert, Prince Consort through his great-grandmother, Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia.

Life

Otto Heinrich's mother, Princess Isabelle, died of a cocaine overdose on 29 November 1988cite web | url=http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20119303,00.html| title=Death Turns Out the Lights at a Noble Couple's Last Soiree | date=9 January 1989 | accessdate=2008-07-21 | publisher=People Weekly | author=Montgomery Brower and Franz Spelman] cite web | url=http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=940DEFD7173EF93AA15752C1A96E948260| title=German Prince Kills Himself After Wife Dies of Overdose | date=31 December 1988 | accessdate=2008-07-21 | publisher=The New York Times | author=Reuters] at the family's estate in Gmunden. After discovering his wife dead, Otto Heinrich's father, Prince Ludwig Rudolph, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with his hunting rifle. Shortly before taking his life, Ludwig Rudolph called his eldest brother Prince Ernst August to ensure that he would care for Otto Heinrich after his death. Otto was nine months old at the time of his parents' deaths.

Despite Ernst August's promise to take custody of Otto Heinrich and raise him with his sons Ernst August VI and Christian, an Austrian court awarded custody to the prince's maternal grandparents, the Count and Countess of Thurn and Valsassina-Como-Vercelli. Today, Otto Heinrich continues to reside in Austria, dividing his time between a residence in Salzburg and Schloss Bleiburg in Carinthia.
