New X-ray Telescope (NeXT)

A next-generation x-ray astronomy telescope sponsored by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. Planned for launch in 2013, this observatory is designed to extend the research conducted by ASCA by investigating the hard X-ray band above 10 keV.Cite web|url=http://www.astro.isas.jaxa.jp/future/NeXT/|title=The New X-ray Telescope|accessyear=2008|accessmonthday=June 24|publisher=ISAS|year=2008|author=High Engery Astrophysics|language=English] NASA is participating with this project by committing the High-Resolution Soft X-Ray Spectrometer (SXS).Cite web|url=http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2008/jun/HQ_C08040_SMEX_selections.html|title=NASA Selects Explorer Mission of Opportunity Investigations|accessyear=2008|accessmonthday=June 23|publisher=NASA|year=2008|author=NASA|language=English]
