William J. Maier

William J. Maier

William J. Maier was an American politician.

Life

He lived at Seneca Falls.

He was a Republican member from Seneca County of the New York State Assembly from 1905 to 1906, and from 1914 to 1916, and was Chairman of the Ways and Means committee.

In March 1917, he was appointed Deputy Comptroller by Eugene M. Travis, and was appointed First Deputy Comptroller by James A. Wendell. He was appointed New York State Comptroller by Governor Nathan Lewis Miller after Wendell's death to fill the unexpired term until the end of 1922, but was defeated for re-election by Democrat James W. Fleming.

He was Chairman of the New York State Republican Committee from 1929 to 1930, and a delegate to the 1936 Republican National Convention.
