Railways in Buckinghamshire

The railway system of Buckinghamshire, in South East England, has a long and varied history dating back to 1838 with a 'golden age' of railway building reaching a peak in 1936 when Bucks was one of the most well served counties in the United Kingdom, with even small villages such Calvert and Waddesdon having their own railway stations. After 1936, parts of the system were closed in stages until 1970. Since then the system has largely remained the same. In recent years however, proposals have been made to restore certain services in central and northern Bucks.
