Groendyke Transport is the 5th largest tank truck carrier in the
United States fact|date=July 2008. The company was founded onJuly 12 1932 by H.C. Groendyke. Before the companies founding refinedfuels were transported byrailcar . A young Harold Groendyke saw an opportunity, and took it creating a tank truck industry. In 1932 H.C. Groendyke moved the company headquarters to Edin, Ok (where it remains today) to be closer to the supply of Eason oil and Champlan refineries. The company was incorporated in 1949. Groendyke Transport continued to expand and in 1965 the company became international. It made its first drive toMexico . The company continued to expand throughout the 1970s and 1980s and made its first trip toCanada in1988 . Today it has 34 terminals in 12 states. They haul more than 420,000 loads annually ofchemicals ,acids ,fuels ,lubricants ,flour , andvegetable oils throughout theUnited States , Canada, and Mexico. The company is also known as a "military friendly" employer by offering programs forveterans . The current CEO of Groendyke Transport is H.C. Groendyke's sonJohn D. Groendyke .
