Scott Kauffman (born 1956) is an American business manager.
He was born in Princeton,
New Jersey to Ellwood and Shirley Kauffman, and grew up with his sister Jane and brothers Geoffrey and Matthew. In1973 he appeared briefly inSteven E. de Souza 's first film,Arnold's Wrecking Co. .Kauffman has worked for a variety of media companies; Newsweek was the first and then
Time Warner in the founding ofEntertainment Weekly .His next job was as a vice-president of
CompuServe , where he worked on all of the online brands and pioneeredSpryNet -CompuServe 's ISP service. With help fromGoldman Sachs , Kauffman participated in the development of one of the first public offerings of the Internet industry. He leftCompuServe in 1997 to join ClickOver as president and CEO -- a company focused on developing management solutions for Internet advertising. ClickOver later becameAdKnowledge after acquiringFocalink Before Scott left
AdKnowledge (and the company was sold toCMGI ), it grew to over 80 employees and more than 100 customers. Kauffman then spent time in turn witheCoverage , a direct-to-consumer online insurance company,Coremetrics , and (as President and CEO)MusicNow , an online music service partnered withFullAudio .In 2005 , he ran theSan Francisco -based digital-magazine service providerZinio .Scott holds an AB in English from
Vassar College and an MBA in marketing fromNew York University 's Graduate School of Business. He was honored byAdvertising Age in 1996 as one of twenty Digital Media Masters. In July 1992,Advertising Age named him one of the top 100 marketers in the country.In 2006, Scott was named President and Chief Operating Officer of
