Shane McEntee

Shane McEntee (born 1957) is an Irish Fine Gael politician and Teachta Dála for Meath East. He was first elected in a by-election in 2005.

Shane McEntee was born in the town of Nobber in County Meath, and has lived their all his life. He has been a member of the Fine Gael party since he was 15 years old. McEntee formerly worked as a farmer and agricultural sales representative. He currently runs "Dee Local Bar". McEntee has also been very involved in the Gaelic Athletic Association, training numerous teams. He is a brother of Gerry McEntee as well as a nephew of Physiotherapist Finbarr (popularly Barry), the All Ireland winning Meath footballer.

His election candidacy began in 2004 when he was selected as the Fine Gael candidate in the Meath by-election, which was triggered by the resignation from Dáil Éireann of Fine Gael's former leader, John Bruton. Polling was on 11 March 2005, when McEntee narrowly beat the Fianna Fáil candidate Shane Cassells, and was elected to the 29th Dáil.
