"Lestes rectangularis" is a two-inch damselfly. Its wings are short and clear to contrast with a long, slender, dark abdomen. The eyes are blue and there is a blue shoulder stripe. It can be distinguished from other New England spreadwings by its lack of a blue tip on the abdomen. The habitat is ponds, marshes, and bogs, where it flies during the summer months.
