Hasan Doğan (1956 – 5 July 2008) was the 37th president of the Turkish Football Federation. He died of a heart attack in Bodrum, a popular tourist destination in southwest Turkish Riviera, where he was on vacation.cite news

Biography

Doğan was born in Abana district of Kastamonu Province. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in İstanbul. He studied Mechanical engineering at Yildiz Technical University and graduated in 1979. Then, he attended an English language school in England between 1979 and 1980. After his return, he worked for Beldesan Corporation, owned by Koç Holding until 1988. Subsequently, he worked at Ramsey, a formal clothing firm based in Turkey; as a member of the board of directors.

He was elected as the chairman of TFF in February 2008 after a stunning performance in the election with capturing 222 votes out of 237.cite news

During his career, he worked for several companies in the textile industry. He also was an active businessman in the media industry as the former owner of the Turkish TV channel Kanal 24 as well as Star Gazetesi, a daily newspaper published in Turkey.

Additionally, he was a member of the board of İstanbul Chamber of Industry, Industry Council of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. In terms of sports, prior to his presidency of TFF, he was a member of a multi-sports club Beşiktaş,cite news

Personal

He was married to Aysel Doğan, who accompanied him whilst Euro 2008. He had two children, Zeynep and Selim. The way Hasan Doğan cheered up after Turkey's goals in the Euro 2008 cup by hugging his wife has gained broad public sympathy.
