Pyotr Gavrilov

Pyotr Mikhaylovich Gavrilov (1900-1979) - was an ethnic Keräşen TatarHeroes of Soviet Union, [http://www.warheroes.ru/hero/hero.asp?Hero_id=484 Гаврилов Пётр Михайлович] ru icon] Soviet officer known as the hero of the Defense of Brest Fortress (1941). Taken captive by the Germans in the afterward of the battle, he was released after the end of the war; chief of camp for the Japanese prisoners of war in Siberia in 1946-1947. Afterwards according to to official Soviet data he moved to Krasnodar, according to independent reports - he was arrested and condemned for "being taken captive" (see Order No. 270) and spent ten years in Gulag.
