List of Texas Rangers managers

There have been 23 managers in the history of the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball franchise. The Rangers are based in Arlington, Texas. They are members of the American League West division of the American League (AL) in Major League Baseball (MLB). The Rangers franchise was formed in 1961 as a member of the American League. Mickey Vernon became the first manager of the then Washington Senators in 1961, serving for just over two seasons before being fired during the 1963 season. In terms of tenure, Bobby Valentine has managed more games and seasons than any other coach in franchise history. The only Rangers manager to make it to the postseason is Johnny Oates, who won the 1996 Manager of the Year Award while with Texas.citeweb|url=http://www.baseball-reference.com/managers/oatesjo01.shtml|title=Johnny Oates Managerial Record|accessdate=2008-07-11 |publisher=baseball-reference.com] Ted Williams is the only Rangers manager to have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

There have been thirteen interim managers in Rangers history. In 1963, manager Mickey Vernon was fired and replaced by Eddie Yost. One game later, Yost was replaced by Gil Hodges, as Yost was never meant to be the manager. In 1973, manager Whitey Herzog was replaced by Del Wilber. One game later, Billy Martin took over the role of manager. In 1975, Frank Lucchesi took over for Martin in the midseason, who in turn was replaced by Eddie Stanky. After one game as manager, Connie Ryan. After six games, it was decided Ryan would not finish the season. Billy Hunter took over the role of manager, only to replaced in the midseason by Pat Corrales. In 1982, Don Zimmer's poor performance forced the Rangers to hire Darrell Johnson midseason. In 1985, after years of losing seasons, Doug Rader was replaced by Bobby Valentine. Valentine was later replaced midseason by Toby Harrah. In 2001, Johnny Oates's poor performance forced the Rangers to hire Jerry Narron midseason. The current manager of the Texas Rangers is Ron Washington, who has led the team since 2007.
