John Mosley

John Mosley

John William Mosley is a former American football player and soldier in the United States Army Air Corps.

Mosley was the first black player in modern CSU football history. He played from 1939 to 1942 for the Colorado A&M Aggies. John Mosley was elected in 1998 into the Colorado State University Sports Hall of Fame for his football and wrestling achievements.

During the Second World War, he tried to join the United States Army Air Corps but was sent to Fort Sill for artillery training instead, and managed to join the Air Corps only after writing many letters to get into flight school. Mosley then went to the Tuskegee Institute to learn how to fly for the US Army Air Corp, a feat seen in the movie "The Tuskegee Airmen" staring Laurence Fishburne. Mosley stayed in the Army, flying until 1970.
