The Fort Madison–Keokuk Micropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the
United States Census Bureau , is an area consisting of two counties – one in southeastIowa and one in northeastMissouri , anchored by the cities ofFort Madison, Iowa andKeokuk, Iowa . As of the 2000 census, the μSA had a population of 45,468 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 42,839).
