"In God's Country" is the seventh track and fourth single from U2's 1987 album, "The Joshua Tree". Bono has stated that he originally began writing the song about Ireland, but in the end it became about America.Fact|date=February 2007

"In God's Country" was released as a single in Canada and the U.S. Nevertheless, it also charted in the United Kingdom as an import. The video made for this single is less known than others from the album and appeared as a segment in "Outside it's America", a documentary tracking the band's first few weeks on tour through the American southwest in 1987. Sales of the single may have been hampered by the fact that its b-sides were two tracks from "The Joshua Tree" album instead of the usual non-album tracks.Fact|date=February 2007

The song appears in the U2 rockumentary "Rattle and Hum" with one verse edited out. It is also used in the closing credits of the movie "Three Kings".

The Canadian release was available on 7", 12" and cassette, while the US release was limited to 7" only. The B-sides and cover art are identical to the New Zealand-only single release of "One Tree Hill".
