Angus Douglas

Angus Douglas (born Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire, 1 January, 1889 was a Scottish international footballer who played for Chelsea and Newcastle United. He passed away on 14 December, 1918.

Angus Douglas was a tricky winger playing mostly on the right. Douglas moved straight from local club side Lochmaben FC to Chelsea in 1907. Regardless of his youthfulness, he made nearly 100 league appearances for the Londoners over the following six years. Angus Douglas on March 8 1911 played in the 2-0 Scotland home victory over Northern Ireland. [http://www.qosfc.com/08inter.htm]

Angus Douglas moved to Newcastle United. Douglas played on Tyneside for a further year and a half before joining up to serve in the [First World War] .

After surviving the war Angus Douglas succumbed to the flu epidemic that swept Europe in 1918. Douglas died just before before his 30th birthday.
