UCLA Electrical Engineering

The UCLA Electrical Engineering Department is one of seven academic departments at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science that ranks among the top ten engineering schools in the country [U.S. News & World Report] . The school was named for its famous alumnus Henry Samueli. Dr. Samueli received his bachelor's degree (1975), master's degree (1976), and Ph.D (1980), from UCLA Electrical Engineering Department.

Background

The Electrical Engineering Department reflects a strong tradition of excellence in research, [http://www.ee.ucla.edu/Research-groups.htm] and service. There are three primary research areas in the department: (1) Circuits and Embedded Systems, (2) Physical and Wave Electronics, and (3) Signals and Systems. These areas cover a broad spectrum of specializations, for example, in communications and telecommunications, control systems, electromagnetics, embedded computing systems, engineering optimization, integrated circuits and systems, nanotechnology, micro-electromechanical systems, photonics and optoelectronics, plasma electronics, signal processing, and solid-state electronics. Industry Partnership

The Electrical Engineering Department is dedicated to initiating and forging partnerships with industry, in which both the school and the companies involved benefit from the exchange of technology innovations and talent. In 1981 the department established The Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP) as a model for developing vital interface with industry. Serivces offered through the IAP focus on access to intellectual capital, visibility on campus and enhancing the student talent pipeline between UCLA & IAP current members.
