The Persian Wikipedia (Persian: ویکی‌پدیا، دانشنامهٔ آزاد, "Vikipedia, Daneshname-ye Azad" meaning "Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia") is the Persian language version of Wikipedia. The Persian version of Wikipedia started in January 2004. It passed 1,000 articles on December 16, 2004 (26 "Adhar" 1383 Hsh) and the 10,000 article milestone was reached on February 18, 2006. As of July 24, 2008, it has about 40,444 articles.
