Indiana Jones and the Dance of the Giants

"Dance of the Giants" is the second of 12 Indiana Jones novels published by Bantam Books. Rob MacGregor, the author of this book, also wrote five of the other Indiana Jones books for Bantam. Published May 1 1991, it is preceded by "Indiana Jones and the Peril at Delphi".

Plot summary

Indiana Jones gets his first teaching job at the University of London. While at the university, he meets Deirdre, a student that he immediately likes but also happens to be his bosses daughter. At the end of the semester, Deirdre and her mother ask Indy to join them on an archeological dig to search for a golden scroll that might tell them where Merlin the Magician is buried. While Deirdre and Indy are in a cave, an explosive goes off sealing the door. They find an escape hole through the top of the cave, but Deirdre becomes ill after she breathes in too much gas in the cave. They find out that the priest blew up the cave to keep them from continuing their for a fake magician. Adrian Powell, Deirdre's secret brother, is the one trying to get the scroll so he can use it with the Omphalos (the relic from Indiana Jones and the Peril at Delphi) to take over London, then the World. He takes the scroll from Indy and Deirdre and gets the Omphalos by stealing it from the Natural History Museum. He trys to perform the ceremony to bring himself to power but Indy stops him.

*Dr. Henry Jones Jr. (a.k.a. Indiana Jones) the famous archeologist.
*Deirdre Campbell Indiana Jones' student and the daughter of Dr. Campbell.
*Dr. Jonana Campbell mother of Deirdre Campbell and Indy's boss who invites him on the dig.
*Jack Shannon Indy's best friend and a jazz musician who stays at Indy's house.
*Dr. Milford one of Indy's friends who likes to speak Middle English and is sent by Marcus Brody to tell Indy that Omphalos was stolen, but he can't remember to tell him.
*Adrian Powell a Member of Parliament who wants to take over the world using the Golden Scroll and Omphalos.
*Father Byrne the priest who blew up the cave trapping Indy and Deirdre inside. He is also the father of Adrian Powell, but is not trying to help him.
