Athletics at the 1900 Summer Olympics - Men's 100 metres

The men's 100 metres was a sprint athletics (track and field) event at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris. It was held on July 14, 1900. 20 athletes from nine nations competed.

Medallists

Moloney was about a metre behind Duffey at the finish.

First round, heat 2

Leiblee won this heat by less than half a metre.

First round, heat 5

Duffey dropped almost half a second from his preliminary heat time, while Rowley ran somewhat slower in his second race. He finish about a metre and a half behind the leader. Burroughs again defeated Boardman, eliminating Boardman from competition while remaining in contention in the repechage.

Semifinal 2

The repechage was a very close race, with Rowley defeating Pritchard by a couple of inches. Rowley advanced to the final while Pritchard and the four Americans were eliminated.

Final

Duffey led halfway through the race before pulling a muscle and withdrawing from the competition. Jarvis and Tewksbury, who had each tied the world record in the earlier races, finished first and second, with Rowley close behind.
