Garrison Cemetery is a cemetery located on the grounds of Fort Anne in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia.

Geography

Located in the town of Annapolis Royal, Canada's oldest town and the oldest in North America, north of St. Augustine Florida. The town is in the north/west end of the province at the mouth of the Annapolis river where it empties into the Annapolis Basin and then the Bay of Fundy.

The Cemetery is located in the south/east corner next to the old Court House, at the intersection of George St. and Hwy. 1.

History

The Town of Annapolis Royal is packed full of history and nowhere in the town can you feel that history come rushing back to you more than the Garrison Cemetery! Since the French first moved up river from their first location at Port Royal to their new military stronghold, where the Lequile (Allains) River and the Daulphin (Annapolis) River met. The town's long history of burying their dead was born.
