It is one of four localities in the county located in the Banat. The commune is composed of three villages: Baia Nouă (Hungarian: Tiszafaiújbánya; Czech: Nové Doly or Ujbányje), Dubova and Eibenthal (Hungarian: Tiszafa; Czech: Eibentál or Tisové Údolí). Ethnically, it is 55.4% Romanian and 40.7% Czech, making it Romania's most heavily Czech locality.
