In 1978, Macatee earned a
bachelor of science degree in speech fromLamar University inBeaumont, Texas . Soon thereafter, he was hired as Sports Director byBill Paradoski atKBMT 12 in Beaumont, Texas.NBC Sports
In 1982, Macatee, then twenty-six, began his sports broadcasting career with
NBC , which made him the youngest network sportscaster in the industry. WithNBC Sports , he covered a wide range of events including Wimbledon, theSuper Bowl , the Rose Bowl and theWorld Series . Additionally, Macatee served as the sports correspondent for the "Today Show" and anchor for "NBC News at Sunrise " and "Sunday Today ". He also co-anchored the syndicated show "USA Today on TV ".Career since 1990
Since 1990, he has anchored coverage of the
PGA Tour on theUSA Network . His other duties have included play-by-play for the U.S. Open Tennis Championship, theFrench Open at Roland Garros, boxing, figure skating, and other sports specials. Macatee also anchorsCBS ' coverage of theLPGA andChampions Tour , in addition to serving as a tower announcer forThe Masters andPGA Championship , substitutes forJim Nantz during other PGA events during the NFL season. Macatee is also CBS's studio anchor for the U.S. Open Tennis Championship, serves as a lower-tier (but major) announcer for CBS' NFL coverage, and hosts the French Open tennis tournament on The Tennis Channel. In 2006 Macatee anchoredUSA Network 's coverage of the Winter Olympics.Macatee was the play by play announcer on CBS' "Clash of Champions" bowling telecast that aired on May 10-11, 2008. He teamed with color analyst

He is currenty working for the "tennis channel" who are broadcasting Wimbledon to the USA, alongside 9 time Wimbledon womens' singles champion Martina Navratilova and Venus Williams' ex-doubles partner Justin Gimelstob.
