Roberto Zanetti

Roberto Zanetti

Roberto Zanetti (born November 28 1956) is an Italian singer, music producer, composer and businessman from Massa, Tuscany. As a singer he is known under the stage name Savage, and as a music producer he uses the alias Robyx.

He has founded several companies, Robyx Productions, Extravaganza Publishing and DWA Records.

Zanetti has produced and written music for several artists, including himself (Savage), Ice MC, Double You, Alexia, Corona and Zucchero.

Zanetti as a singer (Savage)

In the end of 1983 he recorded under the stage name we well know him right now: Savage his smash SLEAZY-ENERGY hit "Don't Cry Tonight" that become a HUGE track all over the Europe and remixed endless times. The popularity of this track was so big that he decided to follow the success and in the same year recorded his next track in the same style called "Only You". This song became a classic of low beat Italo Disco sound and is now part of any serious DJs playing Hi-Energy. His first album Tonight was also a tremendous success followed by singles like "Radio", "Time", "A Love Again", "Celebrate", "Love Is Death". In 1989 he recorder track "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" (a Hi-Nrg version of the classic techno-pop song, originally released by the group Cutting Crew). Also in 1989 he released album with his greatest hits. In 1994 he released album Strangelove. This album contained a number of remixes of his older songs and four mixes of "Strangelove" (originally composed by Depeche Mode). The last single released by Savage was "Don't You Want Me" that appeared on his own label Dance World Attack Records (DWA) in 1994. This track was not present in above mentioned album.

Zanetti as a music composer and producer

In the early to mid 90's, Robyx was a pioneering producer of Classic Eurodance, a sub-style of Eurodance Music (European Dance Music). Hits such as "Think About the Way" by Ice MC, "The Rhythm of the Night" by Corona. feat Ice MC, "Me and You" by Alexia, and "Run to Me" by Double You, are some of the few singles that made Robyx an international success. In the early 90's, when Classic Eurodance started to get recognized in radios around the world with hits such as "Rhythm Is a Dancer (Snap!)," and "More and More" (Captain Hollywood Project), Robyx came out with the megahits "Take Away the Colour" (1993) and "The Rhythm of the Night" (1992). In the mid 90's, when Classic Eurodance was in its golden age, Robyx came out with several singles back to back, but to his biggest one then was "Baby Baby" by Corona. "Baby baby", like "The Rhythm of the Night," was played in the United States in several radios, and that was a sign of wide popularity for Classic Eurodance because the U.S was never famous for having a niche for European dance music. When Classic Eurodance was on its way out around 1997, Robyx again re-invented his style and came out with another mega-hit sung by Alexia: "The Summer Is Crazy."

After 1997, Robyx was not much heard of in the Eurodance scene. Even though he did release a few albums by Alexia, he did not release new music in the style of Classic Eurodance. The latest info suggested that he began working solely with Italian artists to make Italian pop songs. Others speculate that because the style of Classic Eurodance died around 1998, Robyx rode the wave of it and when it was over he decided to focus on other things like his family and life in general.

To this date, in websites such as [http://www.eurodancehits.com] Eurodancehits.com, Robyx is still talked about and is considered a legendary eurodance producer. There are hardcore fans of Robyx's Classic Eurodance style who still await a new release from Robyx in that format. The main reason he is seen as one of the greatest Classic Eurodance producers ever is because he made the style of Eurodance popular around the world; before he came along, Eurodance was barely known because it was rarely played in the radio, unlike his singles.
