Medical University of Lublin has its origins in the year 1944 in Lublin, Poland. The University gained its autonomy in 1950. As the years passed, new departments were added such as the Department of Dentistry in 1973.

The University maintains lively international scientific contacts in cooperation Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark; Ziekenhuis-Tilburg Hospital (Netherlands), and Lvov Medical University located in Ukraine, among others.

Hope Medical Institute

  • in 2001 The English Language Division of the Medical facility was formed. This Branch of the university is responsible for designing and implementing a curricula in the medical program for students in the English Language program. This was accomplished through an agreement with Hope Medical Institute (HMI). HMI is a For-profit school, based in Newport News, Virginia, that places United States and Canadian students in Medical programs at various locations in Poland. These Locations include Silesia and Lublin.
  • The Programs consists of four year and six year programs. After completion of the required coursework in Poland, students are then given the option of pursuing a Clerkship (medicine) in either Poland or various locations in the USA. In addition successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Exam USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 are done during the clerkship. After completion of all the required work, students then apply for the National Resident Matching Program starting September 1 in order to obtain Residency (medicine) in the USA.
