Writ of Mandamus is a heavy metal band from Chicago in the United States that plays a brand of music described as "Law Metal."

The band incorporates lyrics in their songs which deal with legal issues such as the significance of the holding in Marbury v. Madison, constructive eviction, legal insanity, Andrew Jackson's battle with the Second United States Bank and many others.

Band members appear to have assumed the names of early United States Supreme Court justices John Rutledge, William Cushing, James Iredell and John Blair.
