The sumo venue in Tokyo got various places wandering through necessity for several years and had been established to Kuramae Kokugikan in Taitō, Tokyo in 1949 at last.

Sumo backed to Ryōgoku in 1985 with the new venue, current Ryōgoku Kokugikan (new Kokugikan), located in very short distance of about 400 meters from the temple.
