The Aragonese Wikipedia (or Biquipedia in Aragonese, and known as an: within the Wikipedia community), founded on 21 July 2004, [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Autualidat Biquipedia: Autualidat] ] is the Aragonese language version of Wikipedia. As of 31 August 2008 it had 10,098 articles and 1,540 registered users, 4 of whom (0.26%) were administrators. [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espezial:Estadistica Biquipedia: Estadisticas] ]

History

After its foundation on 21 July 2004, the Aragonese Wikipedia reached 1,000 articles on 30 December 2005 after the creation of an article about Panama City [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziudat_de_Panamá Biquipedia: Ziudat de Panamá] ] and its community produced a special logo to commemorate the event.

On 20 September 2006 with the creation of an article about Corz d'Aragón (a political institution) [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corts_d'Aragón Biquipedia: Corz d'Aragón] ] the Aragonese Wikipedia celebrated its 4,000th article.

The community of Aragonese-speaking Wikipedians issued a special commemorative logo for their 5,000th article (which was about the Aragonese monastery San Juan de la Peña) [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monesterio_de_San_Chuan_d'a_Peña Biquipedia: Monesterio de San Chuan d'a Peña] ] on 29 December 2006.

The creation of an article about the Aragonese municipality of Pitarque [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitarc Biquipedia: Pitarc] ] on 31 May 2007 allowed the community to celebrate its 6,000th article milestone.

The next milestone was the creation of the 7,000th article, which was about the old Muslim kingdom of Taifa de Saraqusta, [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taifa_de_Saraqusta Biquipedia: Taifa de Saraqusta] ] on 29 September 2007.

The 8 000th article, commited on 20 January 2008, was about Sexma de la Onor de Güesa, [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexma_de_la_Onor_de_G%C3%BCesa Biquipedia: Sexma de la Onor de Güesa] ] a geographical region of a land of the Crown of Aragon near present-day Huesa del Común in Aragon.

On 6 June 2008 the Aragonese Wikipedia community welcomed its 9,000th article which dealt with Las Planas de Castellote, [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Planas_de_Castellot Biquipedia: Las Planas de Castellot] ] a geographical region in the municipality of Castellote (Teruel).

On 21 August 2008 the Aragonese Wikipedia community celebrated its 10,000th articlehttp://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008] (which was about the San Per de Ziresa monastery in the Aragonese municipality of Valle de Hecho) [http://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monesterio_de_San_Per_de_Ziresa Biquipedia: Monesterio de San Per de Ziresa] ] by producing a special logo.
