Eddie Kingston (born in Yonkers, New York) is an American professional wrestler who most notably performs for CHIKARA, IWA Mid-South, and Westside Xtreme Wrestling. Kingston is also known for his time in Combat Zone Wrestling.

Career

CHIKARA

Eddie Kingston initally trained along side "Black" Jack Marciano and Jigsaw under Kevin Knight at the Independent Wrestling Federation in West Paterson, New Jersey. After Kingston was kicked out of the school, he became part of the second class of students to train at the CHIKARA Wrestle Factory, where he was taught his in-ring skills by founders Mike Quackenbush. [cite video | people = Eddie Kingston | title = Last of Dying Breed: The Eddie Kingston Story | medium = DVD | publisher = SmartMarkVideo.com | location = | year2 = 2008 ] He is today considered to be one of Quackenbush's most talented and successful students. Maintaining the teacher/student relationship, Kingston had come to Quackenbush's defense numerous times during a long-running feud between Quackenbush and Chris Hero. Kingston can also be heard on numerous CHIKARA DVDs during Quackenbush matches, praising his trainer as a color commentator.

Eddie Kingston was a member of the Wild Cards tag team with "Black" Jack Marciano. Together, they won the IWA Mid-South Tag Team Championship and enjoyed reasonable success until a knee injury sidelined Marciano into retirement, thus disbanding the team. Kingston has made mention of Marciano in several of his interviews, and to this day they remain close friends.

In the past few years, Kingston has taken part in some of the most intense feuds in the history of CHIKARA. For a majority of 2006, Kingston had a rivalry against Larry Sweeney. Kingston and Sweeney traded many verbal and physical exchanges for months, the feud culminating with a No Disqualification Strap match between the two. Kingston won this match and the overall feud. This was the Main Event of CHIKARA's last show of the year.

2007 saw Kingston under a much more different light. After an 8-Man Tag Team match between the BLKOUT and the Colony/Hallowicked that ended with him getting rolled up, Kingston went berserk and began to mercilessly beat Hallowicked, attempting to tear the superstar's mask off. The feud lasted for over six months, becoming one of the biggest of 2007 not just in CHIKARA, but in the entire independent circuit. Kingston would show his feelings for Hallowicked by often putting his mask on other opponents and beating them in a similar fashion. This feud ended when Kingston defeated Hallowicked in a Falls Count Anywhere match.

Kingston, along with fellow BLKOUT stable members Joker and Ruckus, went on to the finals of the "2008 King of Trios" tournament, coming up short against the team of El Pantera, Incognito and Lince Dorado.

Combat Zone Wrestling

Kingston joined Combat Zone Wrestling and was almost immediately placed in the role of enforcer in the highly-regarded BLKOUT stable. He would later on also take role as the mouthpiece for the group. Kingston and fellow BLKOUT member Joker won the CZW World Tag Team Championship from the Kings of Wrestling. Seven months later, Kingston defeated Chris Hero to win the CZW World Heavyweight Championship after an extended feud, referred to by many as the best feud in CZW history. He would later lose the title to Justice Pain, breaking his ankle during the match. This injury put him out of action for some months.

On April 7, 2007, Kingston defeated Hero in a Loser Leaves Town match. Following the match, CZW owner John Zandig went to the ring and publicly fired Kingston. This was suspected by many to be an angle, but was later found out to have been legitimate. Kingston released a public interview on YouTube discussing the matter, but the footage was removed only hours later. Kingston did not appear in CZW for over a year following this, but eventually made his return at New Years Resolutions, in the main event for the CZW World Heavyweight Championship.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla

On November 11, 2007, Kingston debuted in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla as Human Tornado's mystery tag team partner. It was revealed earlier on that Tornado's opponent, who happened to be Chris Hero, had also chosen Kingston as his partner, only for Kingston to side with Tornado as the two lost a Handicap match to Hero via a disqualification caused by Claudio Castagnoli. Post-match, the three men beat Hero down and showed signs of the forming of a new group.

Kingston and Castagnoli were involved in an anticlimactic feud against the Dynasty (Joey Ryan and Scott Lost), which began when they interfered in a match between the Dynasty and the Briscoe Brothers. A match for the PWG World Tag Team Championship was booked between the two teams twice in a row, but Kingston missed both shows. Soon after missing his second event, Kingston's name was removed from the roster page.

On August 30, 2008 Eddie returned to PWG for All Star Weekend VII where he competed in a 4 Way for the PWG World Title on Night 1 where he was pinned by the defending champion Chris Hero, following the match Kingston assulted Hero and they had to be pulled apart by PWG officials. On Night 2 Eddie was defeated by the Necro Butcher, after the match Kingston thanked the fans for having him back after his no-shows.

IWA Mid-South

Kingston has made on-and-off appearances for IWA Mid-South since 2004. During that year, most of his activity involved tagging with Marciano as the aforementioned Wild Cards. The duo won the IWA Mid-South Tag Team Championship once, defending them against a number of strong contenders. After Marciano's retirement, however, Kingston's Mid-South work mainly involved one-on-one matches with equally big, equally hard-hitting opponents. He had a lengthy, memorable feud against Ian Rotten, as well as rekindling his classic feud with Hero during the 2007 "Ted Petty Invitational". On the final night of the tournament, Kingston defeated Hero in a Last Man Standing match, since then considered the 2007 Match of the Year for the company.

On December 7, 2007, Kingston won a 4-Way Elimination match against Hero, Quackenbush (the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Champion), and Chuck Taylor to win the title.

On April 11, 2008, Kingston no-showed a scheduled event, thus causing owner Ian Rotten to strip him of the title.

Ring of Honor

Eddie Kingston made an appearance at Ring of Honor's Death Before Dishonor IV show as part of Team CZW in the Cage of Death match in the main event. This was his only Ring of Honor appearance until March 14, 2008 when he showed up during a match involving The Vulture Squad vs. Austin Aries and Bryan Danielson. During the match, Kingston harassed Ruckus, his BLKOUT stable mate in other promotions, of The Vulture Squad and claimed he'd be in Philadelphia on March 16, 2008 during Ring of Honor's PPV taping of Take No Prisoners. During the non-PPV portion of the show, Kingston and his BLKOUT members got into a brawl with The Vulture Squad, except for Ruckus, who stood by and didn't choose sides.

After taking some time off from wrestling due to personal issues, Kingston was scheduled to return to ROH in a non-PPV match against Jigsaw on June 7, 2008 Respect Is Earned II show to advance the BLKOUT/Vulture Squad storyline.

Current events

Kingston has recently had a string of missed shows for several different companies, including CHIKARA, his home promotion. This has prompted fans into speculating on events that are happening in his personal life, which may or may not be the cause of it all. After being stripped of his belt in IWA Mid-South, Ian Rotten told the crowd that Kingston was "going through some personal problems," but that he was welcome back to the promotion once he got his act together. It has been stated by Kingston in his promo for the CHIKARA event "Grit & Glory" that he lost his sobriety and as such, took a leave of absence. He has since returned to active competition for CHIKARA. He has also become a regular in the New Jersey based, JAPW organization. Kingston participated in the 2008 Ted Petty Invitational which included a wild brawl with the Necro Butcher in the first round. Kingston has also been seen in the upstart company, Power and Glory Wrestling where he is embroiled in a feud with Brendan Michael Thomas and Ariel.
