"I Don't Care" is Fall Out Boy's first single from their fifth studio album "Folie à Deux". It was first available for listening on [http://www.mozes.com mozes.com] and [http://www.falloutboyrock.com falloutboyrock.com] on September 3, 2008. The song was released to iTunes on September 8, 2008.

The song has been described as a very political track by Patrick Stump, the lead vocalist of the band, but not political in the traditional sense; more about the politics of a relationship. Stump has said that this song is about the superficiality and selfishness that is associated with pop culture. He said the chorus is very catchy and anthemic, yet very vacuous and empty.Fact|date=October 2008

On October 1, 2008, the song was added to UK BBC Radio 1's A-List. [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/playlist/ BBC - Radio 1 - Playlist] ]

Music video

The music video was released exclusively on iTunes on September 25, 2008. It was then uploaded to YouTube the next day by Fall Out Boy on their official YouTube channel. The video was directed by Alan Ferguson.

When asked about his view on the video, Pete Wentz replied with, "It's a series of vignettes, and in the end, the joke is: Everyone in the world who is famous is just a WWF character. And some of you are Hulk Hogan, and some of you are The Undertaker, and it's awesome. It's just as great to come out to the boos," Wentz told MTV News on the Los Angeles video set. "This one is about portraying the band, too, because there's been videos where it's been about individual characters, and this one is really a band-based video. Everyone has really equal face time, and there's a communist aspect to the video in the imagery, but we're also trying to [make] something that's equal." He also stated that the video draws heavily from the works of Vince McMahon and Mao Zedong. The video starts with the band sitting in a room next to other "rock stars", one of which is Gilby Clarke, who say that Fall Out Boy aren't "rock stars". The song begins and clips appear of the different band members breaking laws and causing havoc because they "don't care" what people think. Patrick steals an old man's walker, Pete harasses a mime, Joe is flashing strangers on the street, and Andy is fighting a man on a sidewalk. Next, Andy smashes a little girl's ice cream on the ground, Patrick grabs at a female passerby inappropriately, Joe and Pete steal tips from a woman playing guitar on a street, and Patrick and Joe throw water balloons from a rooftop. After that, the video cuts to a scene of a female celebrity leaving a premiere and getting into a limousine. It then cuts back to more havoc being caused by the band members. Pete begins to urinate in public on a wall, Patrick and Pete then dress up as nuns and steal from a store, and Pete begins to harass and fight with a guard being called to stop him from urinating in public. The video then goes to all the band members removing their "masks" and revealing that they are either a band member of Fall Out Boy or someone else; the female celebrity turns out to be Pete Wentz, Andy turns out to be Mark Hoppus, Patrick turns out to be Pharrell, Joe turns out to be Gabe Saporta, and Pete turns out to be Spencer Pratt. The video goes back to the room from the beginning, and Gilby Clarke removes his mask and reveals that he is actually Sarah Palin.

Almost all posts on YouTube containing video of "I Don't Care" have been removed. The song was posted on the band's official channel, but it has been taken down, by apparent third party copyright claim, and now posted on their official label's channel.
