Donald “Donny” Deutsch (born November 22, 1957[1]) is an American television personality and advertising executive. He is also the former host of the CNBC talk show The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. The television audience first became familiar with him on February 11, 2005 when he appeared on NBC's The Apprentice with Donald Trump. [2]

Early life

Deutsch was born in Hollis Hills, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens to a Jewish family. He attended P.S. 188, Martin Van Buren High School, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.[1]

Career

Deutsch is the chairman of Deutsch, Inc., an advertising agency company founded by his father, which he sold to Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) in 2000 for $265 million.[citation needed]

In 2005 Deutsch published a business motivation book, Often Wrong, Never in Doubt, written with co-author Peter Knobler.

Deutsch was the host of the CNBC's The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch which ended its run in December of 2008.

Personal life

In 2000, he married Stacy Josloff, whom he later divorced. Deutsch's former girlfriend, Amanda Zacharia, gave birth to their daughter, Daisy, in 2007.[3]

Deutsch purchased a five-story property in New York City for $21 million and reportedly spent another $20 million on renovations in 2006.[4] Deutsch also purchased a $29 million home on Long Island.[citation needed]
