Rollie Fingers , making theMilwaukee Brewers ' postseason roster as their closer despite limited major league experience. He pitched well in three appearances during the ALCS, appearing three times (3.1 innings) without giving up a baserunner while notching 5 strikeouts, picking up a pair of saves in the Brewers' win over the California Angels. However, after allowing the go-ahead run to score in relief ofBob McClure in game 2 of the World Series, he did not appear again in a series that went seven games in a loss to theSt. Louis Cardinals .Ladd's best season came the following year, by|1983. Ladd served as the Brewers' closer that season, saving 25 games in 44 appearances with a 2.55 ERA. He pitched two more seasons for the Brewers before being released. After one more season with the
