Let's Go Sailing (band)

Let’s Go Sailing was started by Shana Levy in 2002 as side project while in the pop band Irving; Eventually Levy left Irving to pursue Let’s Go Sailing full time. Levy began making a record with Tanya Haden, Nikki Monninger of the Silversun Pickups, Brent Turner and Byron Reynolds and recorded an 11 song album with that group entitled "The Chaos in Order". Let's Go Sailing can best be described as melodic pop with influences from Levy's classical piano training. "The Chaos in Order" was self-released at the end of 2006 and shortly thereafter Levy got widespread distribution for the record. She started her own record label, Yardley Pop Records, and released the record nationally March 27, 2007. The album had critical and monetary success for an independent release. Most notably, 4 songs from it were licensed to the ABC show Grey’s Anatomy. “Sideways” the single from the album was featured almost in its entirety over the ending sequence of one of the episodes (this episode also included another track entitled “All I Want From You Is Love.”) [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey%27s_Anatomy_episodes_(Season_3)] Much of “Sideways” was recorded by Levy in her home and a friend’s garage; the majority of the record, however, was recorded in various Los Angeles studios. Jim Putnam (of the Radar Bros.), Chris Chandler (The Flaming Lips), and Ben Mumphrey (Frank Black) are credited as co-producers and engineers. Since its inception, Let’s Go Sailing’s live show has had a rotating cast of characters which has included members from the original group as well as Elvis Perkins who the band supported on a national tour in 2007. Perkins also appears as a guitarist on the track “Icicles.” In 2007, “Sideways” was remixed by Asa Taccone who wrote the music to the Saturday Night Live skits “Dick in a Box” and “Natalie Portman Rap.” [www.myspace.com/letsgosailing] Let’s Go Sailing is currently working on a new record.
