Esperanza Andrade

Esperanza "Hope" Andrade is, as of 2008, the Secretary of State of Texas.

Andrade was a long-time community activist and business leader in San Antonio, until entering politics in 2003 by being appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Transportation Commission.cite news | title = Ex-transportation chairwoman named secretary of state | work = Fort Worth Star-Telegram | date = July 24, 2008 | page = 4B] She became interim chair of the commission in January 2008, following the death of its previous chair, Ric Williamson, until she left the commission in May 2008.
