Garvey Education Association

The Garvey Education Association (GEA) is the exclusive bargaining agent for Certificated, non-administrative employees of the Garvey School District. GEA is affiliated with the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association. The offices of the Garvey Education Association are located in Alhambra, California.

History

The Garvey Teachers Association was founded in the 1930s as a social organization. The Garvey Teachers Association became the exclusive bargaining agent for the teachers, nurses, speech pathologists and psychologists in 1976. In 1977, the Garvey Teachers Association became the Garvey Education Association in order to more accurately reflect their membership.
