Orion Mars Mission

The Orion Mars Mission is a mission to land the Orion Spacecraft on Mars. The launch may be between 2020 or 2030. The mission is to land on the martian surface and to explore the surface of Mars.

1950s/1960s Orion Spacecraft

The erstwhile Project Orion proposed [cite web| url=http://www.bisbos.com/rocketscience/spacecraft/orion/orion_designs.html| title=Rocket Science - Project Orion| accessdate=2008-10-09] a spacecraft composed of the Saturn V for launch and the Orion Spacecraft for interplanetary flight. Just like the Saturn V it would have used stages to launch. The crew might have been between 6-8 people. The rocket would have taken some 125 days to get from Earth to Mars. Landing would have been a splashdown or a landing at the Jackass Flats in Nevada USA.
